Community college to CSU

Published

Hello everyone,

Currently I am a high school student planning to study at the community college (SRJC) I am planning to study nursing, but I have a question. Is it okay to take all my pre req at the community college and transfer to California state university with the gpa I got it from the college not the high school? Will CSU accept the student who just completed pre req or do they accept the people who completed their ADN from a community college only ?

Thank you so much !

For the ADN program it is ok to complete all your prereqs in a community college and transfer to a 4 year. Bear in mind that CSU schools are highly competitive and their students get priority over transfers. Some CSU schools will not even accept transfers.

I now someone who took chemistry in high school and then took a placement test for chemistry at a community college and passed and so didn't have to take chemistry, one of the prereqs for the ADN program. This person however needs to take chemistry at the college level to get a BSN. It just depends on how it's done at your school.

An ADN is a nursing degree and if you have that and want to go to a CSU, then you will most likely be doing the RN-BSN.
