Communication Section of MDS

Does anyone have the Activity department do the communication section of the MDS? With going to the 3.0, their section will not be done except with full MDS's, to keep them involved and maintain the "interdisciplinary" aspect I was thinking of having them do that section. Thoughts?

...nursing homes are responsible for ensuring that all participants in the assessment process have the requisite knowledge to complete an accurate assessment.

review the processes for that section in the mds 2.0 and the steps for assm't in the 3.0. does the discipline possess that knowledge? or, would the facility provide that knowledge or training to acquire the skill?

i am not a proponent, however.

altho' some may have the luxury of not completing the mds, it doesn't really relieve them of the obligation to partake in the care of the resident. activities may likely need to update a resident's response to the activity programs on a regular basis, ideally coinciding w/ a scheduled mds assm't.

Actually the Activity Department in our building is doing Section F, Customary Routine and Activities, and I believe it is a part of EVERY assessment. In 2.0, the activity section is abbreviated in the 14, 30, 60, 90 and quarterly, but in the 3.0 the full interview is done for every assessment, according to what I have been taught. Am I wrong? ST

The section F in the 3.0 is only done with comprehensive assessments.
