Coming up with an NCLEX plan

Published

I'm an Excelsior College grad (officially as of May 21). I'm going crazy waiting for my status to get updated. I've submitted all my paperwork to the State of Michigan who apparently moves as slow as Excelsior. It's going to be weeks before I get my ATT and I'm totally the type that needs a date set so I can get motivated. I desperately do not want this NCLEX interfering with my summer, so I'm hoping to do it the first part of June.

I have the Saunder's NCLEX comprehensive review.

I ordered the Davis Q & A (the one to be released in a few weeks), Review and Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination

And that's it! I'm not investing anymore money into workshops or conferences or anything! I'll also access that free question bank, wherever it is!

Does spending 30 minutes per day doing review of various areas and 45 minutes per day answering questions sound like a realistic plan? As long as I don't have a date yet, this is where I think I will start.

I'm not really too worried about this. Maybe I should be? I understand the difficulty just increased, but after Excelsior's CPNE, I don't know how anything could be worse. I took the NCLEX-PN in 2002 without studying at all. However, that was 7 years ago and god knows what damage has occurred to my brain cells since then.

Any additional input is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like a good plan to me. I will probably start out with two hours per day because I'm a slow baby!

I think your study plan is very realistic. I think the key to creating a study plan is to do what is best for you. For instance, reviewing content would have been an overload for me so I just did questions and answers. I did a total of 1200 q's over a span of 2 weeks (paying close attention to rationales). The night before I reviewed infection prevention. Remember to stay calm, and you will be fine :) Good Luck!
