Hey, I applied to Columbia University for the 2019 CRNA program. Seeing who else had applied and what they have hard so far about interviews or content of the interviews. Thanks!
re:NurseKrunch
I recommend everyone getting CCRN certification. Many schools expect their candidates to have almost complete mastery with CCRN content. Most of my classmates have more than 2 years of ICU experience. I think only two people have one year of experience but that's because they had automatic acceptance from the old entry to practice program (which they have stopped at Columbia - now candidates have to apply just like everyone else. I had about 1.5 year experience before I applied and finished 2 years before I started school. Show interest in becoming a leader. Get involved with things related to CRNAs (such as state legislation related to scope of practice and etc.) and definitely shadow a CRNA and ask many questions. The more knowledgable you are about the profession, the better it will look. Many schools will ask you to about the differences between a CRNA and a MD anesthesiologist. I had experience as a preceptor and charge nurse. I volunteered and did community service such as community health screening. I participated in medical missions. I know my classmates have a variety of different experiences and I think they strive to have a diverse class.
