Columbia BSN/MSN ETP 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I was surprised that there didn't seem to be a thread for this year's applicants to Columbia's ETP program. So I thought I would start one. The information session was today, but I wasn't able to go. :( I was hoping someone else went and would be able to post any admission statistics or tips for the personal statement they gave.

Anyone off the wait list yet? I'm so anxious. #waitingforamiracle

Hello all! my sister and I just declined our spots at CU. We were both on the FNP track. Hopefully this will bring good news to waitlisters! .. We just couldn't justify the cost and will be attending a cal state school instead (still an NP route!). Good luck to you all!

^I also declined my spot in the FNP track because of the cost. Best of luck to those who are on the waitlist! : )

Hi, im new to this thread and am thinking of applying for ETP for 2015. Did anyone get their financial aid package? I am curious as to how much aid they give. thanks!

I think it's time for a new thread :) Columbia ETP 2015

true- i was trying to get sense of financial aid before i apply. any news from current applicants?

Most people get $25k Columbia PLUS (pre-licensure undergrad scholarship... free money). That brings the tuition down to $57K. There are 2 other scholarships that are need based: RWJF and Teich, they are worth $10K each. You have to be pretty "financially disadvantaged" to get either... I applied, but I was not poor enough. Federal loans and such depend on what you've already used up from first undergrad degree (Stafford etc have limits) and your info on FAFSA. Can't believe you guys are already starting a 2015 thread... haha, very gunner of you :)

Just a heads up for those who are thinking about applying to CU this year: I remember hearing during visiting day that this is the last year they're offering the ETP/direct-entry NP program and are converting it to a general masters/DNP program next year. Does anyone else remember hearing this? You guys should probably confirm with someone in admissions though just to be safe.

Yep I remember that too.

Yes, and I also heard they will not be allowing any deferment since the program will be changing next year.

They're getting rid of ETP altogether or only for NPs? Did they say why?

They are changing the program-- it will no longer be a BS/MS NP in 2 1/2 yrs. It will be a generalist MS that will matriculate into a DNP program to become an NP. Basically, it sound like they will not be offering a masters NP anymore...I am not sure if they will be offering a separate ABSN program. They are pushing the DNP pretty hard... Hope this helps!
