Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I hadn't seen a post for the upcoming application year for nursing at CBC, so figured I would get one started so that we could all go thru the anticipation/application process together lol!

Anyone care to share their index and TEAS scores?

It's my first time applying so I am so nervous and not sure what to expect.

Has anyone been called off the 1-10 list?

I was called off the waitlist at the end of May!

Has anyone figured out a feasible working situation? I'm starting to stress about this because my current work schedule has no flexibility for less hours, and I'm finding it difficult to find jobs willing to work around my hours and being very part time. Any suggestions?

Yeah I'm stressing about a work situation, too. I'm just really hoping I get into the Kadlec extern program in January since it's flexible with hours (or so I've been told).

If I don't get into that, then I'm hoping a long term care facility will hire me as a nurse extern. I can't afford to not work while I'm school so I hope I can figure something out!

I'm praying for the extern as well! Do you know how competitive it is?

I've heard it's really competitive but I don't know how true that is...or what they are looking for to get into their program.

I'm an Extern right now. However, my first year I was not and I worked about 20-25 hours a week. The extern program had a lot of applicants when I applied. But as far as being offered a position, it just depends on how many people they have graduating. Sometimes, or so I've heard, the extern program looks for people with little to no experience in the hospital. BUT that isn't necessarily always the case.

Do you mind sharing what it was like applying and getting into the program? I am a CNA right now in an Adult Family Home with rigorous non-flexible hours. I have no hospital experience however, and am praying I get into the extern program so I have some flexibility.

I started selling skincare, Rodan + Fields, to help make extra income. Depending if you like that type of thing, it brings in extra income. Takes a little effort posting on social media but you can do it from your phone. I can answer questions if you are curious.

Also, if anyone has any psych experience (or would like to get some!), let me know. I can help you get your foot in the door at the Lourdes Counseling Center in outpatient services.

Edit: forgot to add, they're extremely flexible with student schedules ?

Falconersys I'm interested! I don't have direct psych experience but I'm a certified assistant behavior analyst and have experience with adolescents with disabilities (mostly autism and emotional-behavioral disorders). Do you think that would be relevant enough experience? Would you please email me? I'm desperate for a medically-relevant job lol. My email is [email protected]

If anyone is interested, I graduated this past year and I'm looking to sell my textbooks for much cheaper than the $1000ish if you by them from the store. I have all of them! Let me know if you are interested.
