Hello! This topic is for anyone interested in Collin College Summer ADN Program 2017/Fall 2017

Hey All I applied for fall the paramedic-rn bridge. Did anyone else apply for the paramedic-rn or lvn-rn bridge?

I think the applicant pool is separate for the paramedic/lvn, so I'm sure that the waitlist is different as well, it might be smaller though! Best of luck to you! I hope you get in :)

I heard that same thing from the recruiter. She said they had more than enough for both this year though.

I hope your in and I wish you the best of luck with everything!

Thank you , I wish you the best of luck as well !!

Has anyone received the email for the background check?

Any suggestions to what books were most helpful to those who have taken PSB exam.

Thanks in advance!!

I haven't received an email for the fingerprints yet... I wonder if we will find out on Friday..

Hello everyone,

Congratulations on getting in! I started the program in Spring 2017 and successfully completed my first semester, however I have to move back to Europe so I had to exit the program. First, let me tell you, this program is amazing, teachers are outstanding, and it is totally doable. You will enjoy it! Just take it day by day, test by test  Now, if you are interested, I have all required (almost brand new) Elsevier books for the entire program purchased at Collin bookstore. I also have 2 new lab coats, size M and L, and Littmann stethoscope. I have used uniform bottom size L, and tops size M and L. However, it was only used for skills videos and once a week for clinical, so it is in an excellent condition. Let me know if you are interested and we will discuss the details. Also, if you have any questions about the program, I will be happy to help. Good luck to everyone!

Hello , I am happy to hear you were sucessful in completing the first semester but sad to hear you won't be able to finish !! I hope your transition back to Europe is a smooth one .

Like most people might ask what tips do you have on being successful? What was your schedule like ? And did the program ever become to overwhelming?

Hello,

Just don't get overwhelmed and definitely keep up with studying, do not wait till the last moment, not because it is too hard, but rather because it is extensive. Definitely attempt for an A on the abbreviation and medical term tests in the first week because it will help you tremendously with the final grade in those courses. Focus on the lab skills, and practice A LOT for the videotaping days. Use open lab as much as you can. You have three attempts on the video skills, and if you do not pass on the third try, you are out of the program for that semester. We had about 13 people failing those. Lecture is also important, but you have more time to work on those because failing one test does not determine your future in the program like videos do. The first semester is basically scratching the surface and they will not expect you to know the things that you do not need to know at that level. When it comes to the schedule, the first two weeks are mostly intro, expectations, rules, etc. Then, first half of semester will be quite steady, Monday-Thursday lectures and labs. We had lecture on Monday, Lab Tuesday and Wednesday, usually out around 15:30, and Thursday was an easy day lecture, usually out around 2. After the first half, when your clinical start, it will change a bit, we had clinical on Wednesdays, lab and lecture Monday, Lab Tuesday, and lecture Thursday. The program definitely had overwhelming moments, especially in the beginning when we had mandatory math test, phram test, videotaping, and lecture tests. However, you learn pretty quickly to prioritize and go with the flow. And do not worry about the math test, it is very simple. For the phram, you will get the drugs list that you need to know all about, it is not too hard. Again, it is very doable, just organize your time and prioritize.

Thanks for the advice I also was wondering were you able to work during the program ?
