Colleges/Universities that doesn't REQUIRE the Teas Exam?

Published

-I am currrently attending NOVA (NVCC), Northern Virginia Community College that requires you to take the Teas exam prior to entering their RN nursing program. I took the teas exam but flunked my English portion of the test. As a foreigner, english isn't my first language and the ATI study guide was no help. This fall I am planning on trasfering to either (UVA), University of Virginia or Norhtern Michigan University, these institutions do not require you to take the TEAS. My question is that are there other institutions that do not require you to take the TEAS (in Virginia IF possiable)? Is there a reliable website where this information is accessiable?

This is just a passing thought, but I think you should go make an appointment with your college's Student Services department and perhaps one with the Disability Support services before you commit to transfering. Allowances and accommodations are made all the time for various reasons. Be sure and drop the "multicultural" word during your talk. Colleges don't want to be seen (and there are some legal grounds here) as excluding students just because they aren't native born.

Stop in, talk about how well you did on the other parts of the test, tell them how much you want to be a nurse, and see what comes of it.

It might not get you anywhere, but you'd only be out time. Who knows? You might even find a sympathetic ear.

I was just about to say, Northern Michigan University, but I see you already know that :)

I can see you've done your research on this matter (so did I & thats how I ended up at NMU).

The University of Detroit Mercy and many other colleges do not require the TEAS - instead they require the NET test. The NET test is easier than the TEAS. You may want to research what it is like and see if you would do better at a college that requires the NET test instead of the TEAS test.

Good luck!!! :)

Id have to say that i believe the TEAS is much easier than the NET. DEF the math portion on the TEAS is easier. But for me ya, the TEAS was all around much easier. just my opinion but the ati study guide helped w/ the math but for english and reading comp and sci totally get the MCGRAW-HILLS nursing school entrance exam book!!!!! actually i found a thread somewhere on this site where i could download a FREE copy of the book on my computer!!! it helpeddddddd soo much!!!! i can send you the attachment if you like on email. if u are intrested my email is [email protected] : ) goodluck to you
