College of the Desert Fall 2018

Hello,

Just submitted my application to COD and patiently waiting to hear back. I just got a message I was missing paperwork and just sent that back in, so right now they are looking them over. I applied with a 60. And crossing my fingers. Great to hear from all you.:)

Congrats on your acceptance. Do you mind sharing what your application score was?

Thank you! I have a score of 70. The paperwork advises that we need to have our signed documents in by May 7.

Hi all! Does anyone know if COD counts +'s and -'s in the gpa calculation? I just missed the 70 point cutoff with a 65 and am wondering if retaking one of the prereq's this summer would help me for the next app cycle. (My science grades were A-, B, A; would retaking the one with the B get me to a 4.0 or not because of the A- I have in one of the others?) Thanks so much!

And thanks for your response about your score Stewburger!

Hi Suzieq14, I don't believe +/- are counted in the GPA. The GPA formula seemed to favor a better grade in the higher unit courses. The GPA formula: Course units multiplied by grade value (A=4, B=3, C=2, and D=1) equals grade points. The total of grade points divided by combined total of course units = GPA. So you get more points for a better score in Micro (a 5 unit class) than A&P 13 (a 4 unit class).

Did you get volunteer points? Did you take the recommended classes for extra points?

If I were you I would make an appointment with the Nurse counselor to see what she would recommend, she was very helpful with directing me. Also, there may be some students that were offered a spot this fall, but turn it down because they decided to go to another school, or something came up. You might be on a backup list. The acceptance letters are due back by May 7. So if they don't get all of the letters back, they may go a little deeper on the list. I think the website said that they went as low a 64 points last semester. So, keep your fingers crossed.

Does anyone need a roommate? I'm trying to find someone that has also got accepted looking for a way to save money. If you are interested please let me know.
