College of the Canyons hopeful applicant

Published

Hi there -

So I've been following a bunch of threads for COC but still haven't been able to come across an answer for this, so I was wondering if anyone had some insight. Please bare with me while I explain my situation...

I'm gonna be applying during this summer application period for Spring 2016 at COC.

I have two different transcripts from both the college I'm currently at now, and the one I attended prior.

For my school I'm currently at now, I have a 4.0 GPA, Academic Honors, and in Phi Theta Kappa.

This is the school I got an A in micro, A in anatomy, and an A in physio, as well as As in english and speech.

However, before I was at this school, I attended another university. I was in a rough patch in my life at that time and kind of started off on a bad note back in 2011. I have a W and an F in chemistry there, but I know this isn't a core course (I eventually went on and got a C with it at the current college). I'm regretful of not leaving that school sooner when I was facing problems, but whats done is done and I was glad I was able to turn it around with where I'm at now.

NOW, the question is -

how will that affect me in my application?

I know some schools look at trends and generally the ones that can show a turn around, it is no problem. My overall GPA when combining my two GPAs from the separate schools adds to be 3.0. So I'm just kind of stuck as to what odds I have. Because I've been working my butt off since then to fix everything, which I like to believe I've done well at.

Any thoughts, comments or ideas are much appreciated.

And thank you for reading my short story, haha.
