Collaborating Physician Fees

These questions were sent to me. Any ideas? Thank you.

I had someone ask me this regarding what is the typical fee a doc would charge or you are willing to pay for being your collaborative MD if you are opening up your own business. Would you pay the doc a flat monthly rate or a percentage of income generated?

As I make my inquiries what do I expect in the way of fees? How do I know if I'm being overcharged?

What is customary in this ares? Any guidelines ??

:)

One NP told me that she pays $500 monthly. I am in the process of negotiating that myself. So far the only answer he has given me is "It'll be a nominal fee." Still waiting to see what that will be.

It likely depends on state requirements. I was in a group one time in MA where 4-5 APRN 's met monthly with the psychiatrist for one hour. My agency paid my fee but the local APRN's each paid $50. He was also available for questions outside of meetings.

The state requirement was one meeting every 3 month and notification within 48 hours when prescribing some scheduled meds. And some other things. Collaborating agreement to be signed every 2 years.

Now I am in an independent state and it is much easier to practice though the meetings were interesting .
