Anyone know anything about Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA? I am RN who is considering working on one of the medsurg units. I heard they have been going through a lot of changes due to new management and I would like to know whether or not it's a good place to work. Any and all info is GREATLY appreciated. Don't be shy!!! Lol.

I posted this on another topic.... but it is very relevant to your questions as well....
" I had an interview with Coliseum awhile back with their Med/Surg Director... I was being interviewed for the Med/Surg Oncology & Med/Surg Orthopedics... She was nice and VERY upfront about the issues on all of her units (5-6pts to a nurse). Training seemed adequate(8-12 weeks). They said it would be hard work but, they would work hard to retain their staff members... If I had chosen to go that route, then at least I was very informed... Luckily, something opened up in Public Health... I love patient teaching & autonomy so that was the best choice for me."

In addition to this, one thing I will say is that the director was VERY understanding.... She started out as a CNA, then RN, then Charge Nurse, now director.... So she understands all the different roles.... and she really encourages teamwork. Now, whether that actually happens is another story...
Hopefully, someone that actually works on the floor will chime in and give you the real story. :)

Hey. I got offered a position at Coliseum also. Did they say anything to you about signing a contract? They mentioned it in the interview but didn't have anything about it in the offer letter so I didn't know if it was something they were doing?
No. Angela did not mention one to me and besides, where did you hear about a contract. WE would be "employment at will" just like any other job. They are not a union hospital!
I was told that I'd have to sign a 12 or 18 month contract... & If I broke the contract there would be a fee to pay. But, thats becoming more & more common with RN positions... especially if you're a new grad. I guess it's to make sure they have staff...

I got an offer from there the other day for the cardiac stepdown unit, unfortunately I had already accepted an offer from MCCG. Coliseum does not do the new hire 18 month contract, MCCG does. I asked at the interview for Coliseum and the lady said they weren't doing contracts but maybe its just that floor that's not. Dunno
Well, I applied for the CNA position anyhow.

Hello all! I was wondering from the time you all applied online, how long did it take for you to get a call for an interview? Receive an offer, and start? Did you call HR to follow up on your application, or did you have help (internal) getting the interview?
I am an out of state applicant and I will be in town in two weeks. Hoping to get a call for an interview during my trip down to Georgia.

I applied and got a phone call within 4 hours of applying for the job, but I do have a friend who works there. I do have clinical experience, and have multiple Life Support Instructor Certifications, so that does help out.
