CNOR Exam

I recently registered to take the CNOR exam by end of July and wanted to ask others who have taken it in the past few years (think the last posting I saw about this was from 2012) and what they felt was the best way to study/was the most helpful for the exam - doing test questions, studying notes from a 2day course, or using the CCI study guide and referencing the appropriate chapters in the AORN Standards book/Alexander's book, etc? Additionally, what topics seemed prevalent on the exam? Are the AORN Standards and Alexanders book really necessary to go through if you've studied notes from a 2day course and are doing test questions? I actually have both the AORN and Alexanders book but am obviously reluctant to go through those books as it is harder to lug those books with me wherever I am going haha.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to AN! Although it's been several years since I took my exam (renewed last year with contact hours), I found that AORN's review course online helped a lot, plus came with a money back guarantee and 30 CEs to boot. I also pirchased CCI's review book and did a lot of practice questions. I did not attend an in person review course as at the time there were none offered in my area. Pretty much anything that was covered in the review course was fair game in the exam- I did seem to have quite a few sterilization questions. I would say take a practice exam and identify any weak areas that you shoud focus on. For me, a lot of those were areas I don't frequently encounter in my job, such as the sterilization questions and OB related questions. Good luck!

    Thanks a lot for your reply Rose_Queen. I am taking an online webinar and downloaded the Upward Mobility App with 400 questions as well as the free versions of the CCI and another app I can't remember the name of (although there aren't many questions in these without paying for 200 more)...I rented the Alexanders book and purchased the AORN standards guide but am thinking maybe I didn't really need to...wondering how people approached studying from these textbooks as they are each huge books and reading through them is way too time consuming? Ie. do I really need to study from these books or can I just study notes from my webinar and just do practice questions?
