CNA training/LVN schools-San Antonio?

Published

Hi all, I'm interested in pursuing nursing as a career, but I would like to gain some experience first working with patients. As it is, I've already taking most of my pre-reqs, about 50 out of 60hrs to get into most nursing schools here in tx, but one thing missing from all this schooling is actual experience working in a hospital environment and with patients. So, I decided instead that it would be best if i started from the bottom instead of going full-force with 2 years of nursing school or BSN.

My questions are- does anyone know of any places in San Antonio, where I can get CNA training (if free even better) and where I could work as a CNA part-time? And/or what schools in San Antonio offer LVN programs considering I heard they were only a year long. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

I live in N Texas but if I lived in San Antonio as you do , I would be footin it down to the Baptist hospital were they have a diploma RN program. Diploma graduates are some of the best nurses . I wanted so bad to go to that school 5 kids, full time job, husband UTA engineering students makes that not possible. Good Luck
