Our state requires 75 hours of lecture and 70 hours of clinicals. Our class was an evening class which lasted 3 months. So 3 nights a week for 5 or 5.5 hours each, including clinicals. Clinicals were a little more casual in terms of adhering to the clock. I don't know if I would do well in a concentrated program of 11 days. There's so much to learn, and practice and re-learn. I felt like it sank it better over a longer period. Granted, at times there were times I thought it would never end... but now it seems like it went quickly in retrospect. I went through a local community college, by the way. The facilities (lecture, lab, and clinical) were top notch. That made a difference for me, too. The program cost $1000 plus extras, totalling around $1400 plus the app to the board and finger prints were another $158. Not cheap, and I paid cash.
See,that's what I was looking for.I'd feel much more comfortable with a class like that.Plus I don't think I will be able to attend the one I was talking about anyhow.I have an 18 month old,and I watch my 3yo brother everyday from 5:30am-3pm while my mom works..The clinical hours in this class start at 6:30am.I have no form of day care for them if I were to get accepted. The only place that MIGHT have night classes would be our adult education center.I am going to give them a call in the morning to see what they have to offer.
Thanks for your input!!

Homebound.....check out the Red Cross website to see if they have classes in your area - I know at some I was looking at her in MA, there were nite classes. You might also want to check out Technical/Vocational High schools in your area - they might have a CNA course too. Good Luck!!

How long was your training altogether?
The ONLY one in my area that is accepting applications right now is 88 hours of training spread out through 11 days...Is that normal?Only 11 days? Hmm..
