CNA State Test (Virginia)

Published

Hi everyone. I am taking my CNA state test this Saturday (January 25). I was wondering if any of you took the state exam in Northern Virginia area and maybe you can share some tips and specific details about it. I heard that over here the examiners are very strict and many people fail their skills exam. So if you can share your experience it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Whereabouts did you take your course? 120 hour course, correct? I took my CNA course in Virginia, but tested in Florida after I moved. My teachers were also state examiners so we had a huge advantage as students. They are strict, but very fair. If you forget something or know that you've made a mistake, they allow you to start over as long as you admit your mistake and ask to try again.

Check out the youtube channel 4yourCNA. They have all the skills videos that are good to watch before you go to take the test. The biggest thing is to practice practice practice and go in being fully confident of your skills. This stuff is not rocket science and you can do it!! The examiners want to pass you, but they do not want incompetent CNA's. That's why Virginia has the 120hr course requirement.

Down here you can challenge the boards and technically get your CNA without even taking a class. Scaaaary!!!

Thank you for your advise. I took my class in Loudoun County Nursing and Rehab. Center. The instructor was great, so we did learn a lot in class. It has been 2,5 months since my class was over. Over here it takes very long time to be scheduled for state test. I can say that I was lucky that they scheduled me for January because all the people from my class will be taking their test in February. Anyway, I feel confident about my knowledge, but nervous because I heard how strict it is going to be. I do watch the YouTube videos. They help a lot.

Sounds like you'll be fine. The number one thing to do is be confident. You've had the class, you watch the videos, so you know what to do. Most people I hear fail only do so, because they let their nerves get to them. Good luck and let us know how it worked out!

YooHoo. I passed:))

Awesome! Told ya, piece of cake! Now for the hard part, finding a job and working as a CNA! haha. Good luck! It is very rewarding work most of the time.

Found one already. Starting today at 2.30 pm

I'm from virginia too. I took a cna class at NVCC. I'll take my test next week in Manassas. Any advice??
