I'm looking into CNA programs in the greater NYC area and was wondering if anyone has any experience at the schools around here. Don't mind the $$ so much if the program is good.
Any advice is very much appreciated.

I found Isabella, a nursing home in Manhattan. It has a free program that trains 10 people 2 times a year. Dunno what I my chances are but I guess I can apply.
The other place I'm looking at is The Manhattan Institute which does exclusively Allied Health classes. Looks like I can finish the CNA course in 1 month and do EKG and Phlebotomy in the following 3 weeks.
anyone know about these 2 places?
thanks!

I'm almost done with the program at New Age Training. It has taken longer than expected but is up to par with the other programs offered in NYC. You can also get a voucher for this program from Workforce 1. I think a lot of the CNA courses in NYC are kind of crazy being organized etc. but they are sticking to schedules and graduation dates including scheduling the state board and externships. It's worth checking out the school to see if you like it, I would schedule an appointment.
Also, Isabella is one of the nursing homes where people do their externships during the class so you might not have to wait six months to get a spot for the next free spot if you go for a grant from workforce 1.

I am done with my CNA class and just waiting to take the state exam. I took the class at NY Institute of Medical Careers in Queens, url= New York Institute of Medical Careers - HOME. I cannot compare it to the other schools (reason being: just attended this one), however cannot complaint about it either: it's sooo cheap compared to other schools, they have various schedule, and they accredited by the state - that was all I needed. I've also signed up for an upcoming EKG/Phlebotomy class with them. And with just any school you need to keep up with your readings, work on your skills and be present in a classroom and you'll do just fine.
Also you might find it useful to go to this website url: Prometric Services: Testing an Assessment (it's really helpful: it has skills check-list and practice test, etc.) and under the "Pass Rates" section (way down below) you'll have the information about the schools (at least some). I assume these are legit schools and pass rates can give you some insight on how successful they are at teaching their students (read: good lecturing and/or internships, etc.).
Sorry for the lengthy post. I hope it helped and good luck.
