  1. Should a RN have to work as a CNA before being a RN?

I am doing a survey for a class, I want to know whether people think all RN should have to work as a CNA before they can become a nurse.

Do not base your opinion off of the expense of getting the certification

Yes! I think all schools should integrate working as a CNA during the first year of the BSN. Not certification - full blown CNA work, on the floor, as part of class. It would go a long way toward producing new nurses with real clinical skills and build teamwork through understanding. Too many newly minted BSNs have never done anything medical before and they treat their CNA's and LPN's like lesser human beings. Such entitlement has no place in a team of professionals.
