CNA to RN programs in southsuburbs

Hey Illinoians,

My sister plans on getting her CNA license this coming winter. She lives in Park Forest. I was wondering if any of you knew of any hospitals around her that have programs to help CNAs in becoming RNs??? Thanks bunches for your help! -----CLK :p

Hello,

I work at South Sub as an Aide and they just started a program this month for CNA's to become LPN's and LPN's to become RN's. But because it is so new, everyone wanted to be a part of it, and there was only 18 spots per position so they could see how it works. But for the most part all of the hospitals in our area that I know of do not do in house training anymore, they want a college degree. I am starting the nursing program at PSC in the fall and I think that is the best way to go that I am aware of. Hope I helped a little. GOOD LUCK!! :p

Hi,

Until last July I worked for Advocate, (including South Sub)-I left to finish my bachellors full-time and a half, graduated this last May.

Advocate has a program called ACE I think, which will completely pay for all of your nursing classes and costs if you have been accepted to a school and you have worked for Advocate for six months or so and you agree to reciprocate and work as an RN for Advocate for 2 years or so in return. This is on top of the tuition reimbursement that they also have.

This may be very helpful!

I was also accepted to start at PSC this fall, (my BA is in Soc/Psych) but I was accepted into DePaul's Masters Entry to Nursing Program and decided to give up my seat at PSC to another hopeful student. Good luck!!

I do not know if St. James, Olympia, St.Francis in Blue Island or Ingalls hospitals has similar reimbursements or programs, it could be a good idea to call and ask them.
