CNA, RN, LVN< BABIES, help!

Published

Well I make a straight decision here because I feel like time is slipping away. I have not been financially happy in my current field (beauty

consultant) much is that is because I am limited time wise because I

am a parenting full time weekends and afterschool to my child. My kid

is 4 and we do want another one, so I am thinking now would be a good

time so they would be 5 years apart. I wanted LVN at first but it takes

a big financial commitment because they are usually private schools, my

ultimate goal is RN so I was thinking of doing CNA at a private school ($2000) and my plan would be to work the night shift ( I guess while a

little bit pregnant and after the baby comes) and try to get into the RN

program that starts in December 09 . ( I still have pre reqs to do) Does

this sound like a crazy plan? or can it work? Is anyone working as a CNA

while in RN school now? anyone with children? The other option is to delay

the child until I am done, and then they would be 7 years apart....people

say it's like having two familes....

Hi and welcome,

First since you are not happy with your finances right now I'd postpone any thoughts of another baby until you are working in a profession that will allow you a better income. I can't imagine paying $2,000 to become a CNA. Don't most facilities offer to put you through the program in exchange for working for them? I'm not sure how much you make now but CNA wages are pretty low, imo, and the work is hard. Check out community colleges for your LVN because they aren't expensive and then you will be able to transfer your credits to a LVN to RN bridge program. Good luck!
