CNA pay in NE Arkansas

Published

I have just recently moved to Arkansas due to a nasty divorce. I am living in the NE Arkansas area around Pocahontas/Ravenden Springs and wondered what would the CNA's in this area make? I am looking at getting a job at a trucking company for $10.00 an hour plus bonuses. Would getting my CNA cert. be worth it as opposed to this pay? I am really leaning towards the CNA route, it would make it easier to get my pre-req classes in. I could really use some advice, I have been wracking my brain and coming up more confused. The school in Pocahontas says that the CNA course is ineligible for financial aid, which sucks because I have a Pell Grant. :crying2:

I just thought that I would bump up this in the queue, any and all advice is welcome!:lol2:

Hey-not sure if you know but AMMC in Paragould hires people without the CNA certification and you train on the job. I'm thinking about doing that myself while I'm at school at Black River(Paragould campus)..Also I had a teacher tell me that they start you out with a little over $8 an hour, and the longer you work you get paid more..but I think the top pay is about $11 an hour.

Thank you for the information. How do you get hired on? I have already taken classes in Georgia such as Med.Term, A&P I&II, Nutrition, and an intro to Healthcare classes. My GPA is 3.78 so I think that I should work that into a cover letter? I want to attend the Pocahontas campus so I want to see if I can find a job in this area as well. Do you have any advice?:twocents:

Here is a link to the hospital's phone numbers: http://www.myammc.org/ContactUs I would think that you would need to call the Medical Staff Coordinator870-239-7165

I have a friend that recently got a job as a CNA even though they weren't hiring. They told her they are nearly always looking for more people to be CNAs. I really don't know much about any jobs in Pocahontas, the only time I have been there is to go to the bookstore. But yes, I would think that adding what medical classes you've taken to you resume a good idea if you apply at the hospital here in Paragould.

Good luck!
