CNA new to Illinois looking for work

Hi, I am a CNA, new to Illinois, living in Chicago. My last job was on a tele unit in a small hospital. I am wondering how things are done here as far as looking for work- is it okay to apply in scrubs? (Ironed, of course). Also, I have noticed very few hospitals seem to be hiring- I am trying to be as familiar as possible with the HR people in the hope that it will help (delivering my resume in person instead of mailing it, etc). Does anyone have any tips for me (please)? Also, does anyone know anything about getting on at Stroger- they never seem to have any openings for CNAs, but I really am interested in working with that sort of population. Thank you. : )

Work in the suburbs as they pay more than the city does. Couple dollars more. If you are lucky try getting a job at the V.A. hospital. I had a friend who was a CNA and got a job cleaning medical equipment @ $15 an hour. Apply in regular casual clothing.

Thank you for responding, I got a job at Resurrection and am excited about it! If you know where I can get a quick and dirty phlebotomy class, please let me know, I checked around and they seem to want me to spend thousands of dollars and 6 months in school for a phlebotomy cert around here, which is kind of silly when I could just get my RN in 3 years anyway (I noticed you do education- I looked at your profile- so I thought you might know).
