CNA/Medical Assistant Instructor hours/salary?

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Does anyone work as a Health Careers, CNA, or Medical Assistant Instructor at a Vo-tech? I'm interested in knowing what kind of hours and pay to expect with this type of position. I'm an RN who will be working towards a BSN under a temporary teaching certificate.

I do. Pay will vary dependent on the area of Oklahoma you work in. I make $49,000/year which is much less than I made while working in nursing. As far as hours, that will also vary depending on what tech center you work for and whether you are a single teacher program or not. I easily put in 60 hours a week my first year plus took classes to finish up my BSN. You will also be required to attend New Teacher seminars, as well as, take teaching classes (also known as the Basic 15) toward your Standard Teaching Certification. I took mine at OSU and learned a lot. You have to take 6 hours a year to get you provisional teaching certificate renewed each year; however career tech doesn't usually make you take any of those your first year. All I can say is get ready for a wild ride and a steep learning curve. Beyond all good luck. HOSA is probably the best part. I am leaving after this school year, but if you ever need a resource, just holler. I liked it, but have decided to go back to school.
