Pay Cut "Because of ObamaCare and Jerry Brown"

My boss just let me know that my rate of pay is going down a couple of dollars an hour because of obamacare and a new law from Jerry Brown. (I'm in CA) Has anyone else heard or going to be affected by this? I pretty much told her if that's the case I won't be working there much longer.

It might be ACA, but I would not put it past any employer to cut pay and say it's because of ACA, even if it's not. I think any excuse to cut pay is good enough for them and if they can find someone to pin it on then so be it. I have also read that some employers have eliminated health benefits for part time nurses. Can you imagine? Being a NURSE and not having health coverage??!?!? That was pre-ACA. Makes no sense to me at all, but what do I know. . . [sighs and shakes head].

Unfortunately, if you don't belong to a union your options are limited to accepting the pay cut or changing jobs. As for the insurance being cancelled, I disagree that insurance companies are using Obamacare as an excuse, they are being forced to comply with a law. Albeit a law that dictates minimum requirements of coverage for all, which I think is ridiculous. Not everyone needs or wants to pay for the same coverage. If I'm 55 years old and don't need maternity coverage, why the heck should I have to pay for it?

If I'm 55 years old and don't need maternity coverage, why the heck should I have to pay for it?
If your next-door neighbor is 23 and doesn't need cardiac coverage, why the heck should he have to pay for your MI? If you can answer one of these questions, you can answer the other. Think!

One can compare the current health coverage mandate like auto insurance. It's best for everyone to have coverage (especially if someone is underinsured). I'm just so confused about all of the issues that are surfacing that were not expected, like the dropping of policies by insurance companies. Im under the impression that it is mandated to have coverage but an insurance company is not forced to take you on as a client? I got to get the book. I also feel turned off that although seniors are told that their medicare coverage will not be cut but yet medicare cuts in terms of defining how they reimburse resembles a cut. Someone has to pay if they come back to the hospital within 30 days. How can the system justify not paying when the patient does not comply or gets sick out for some reason. I think these reimbursement changes need to be rethunk so that healthcare does not become defunct.
