CNA no longer a Pre-req for MCC district

Published

as of summer 2006 the cna will no longer be required as part of the entrance into any of the mcc programs. i am assuming this will just be incorporated as part of block one. i am already a cna and i really hope i do not need to retake the class again, but i doubt it. sorry if some of you knew about this already, but just for the people who don't here is the "press release" from july 05. ( sounds like they will also be deleating the fn class and patho. they were both classes i almost took this sem im glad i held off)

Glendale is fighting to leave patho in. I REALLY don't see how you can do the nursing program without Patho! They don't have time to add that to the nursing program either. I am willing to bet they don't yank out Patho.

I think MCC is fighting to keep it in as well. It wouldn't suprise me if they don't just make it part of the program. I am taking Patho this semester while I wait to get into the program. My instructor noted how important it was to wait to take Patho until you are in Blocks 1 and 2. She also said "those of you who are taking this class prior to being in the NP should also plan on attending this class while you are in Blocks 1 and 2 so the material will be fresh." MCC breaks up Patho, HCC240AA for Block 1 and HCC 240AB for Block 2. During my class (HCC240AB) the instructor often makes references to what the Block 2 students are studying in Pharm as well as clinicals. The instructor also noted that they will be using a new textbook next semester, I don't think that they would have studenst buy new textbooks that would only be good for one portion of the class..........
