It would help if you had the P&P regarding the task that you are talking about, so that you can talk to the CNA and have your proof that "Yes, Virginia, it is done this way", or if you don't feel comfortable, go to your NM so that they may have a chat w/ her. Either way, it needs to be addressed asap.
Obviously any situation that deals with potential confrontation and conflict is sensitive... Whether you choose to confront her yourself or go to your manager, make sure you do it in private, away from any other staff members that might be able to overhear. You may or may not be able to change her behavior, but you can always intervene with the new nurse aide and ensure she knows the proper policy and procedure "by the book" way of doing things. The nurse aide that is not following policy and procedure needs an immediate intervention because she is placing everyone at risk: the patient, herself, the hospital, and you. This goes for anyone who thinks they are above "the law"..

First off I want to say I respect CNAs, love CNAs, and believe CNAs are a vital part of nursing care. This is not to degrade CNAs. First off we have, lets say Dr. cheeks has set of orders that he routinely signs. Well one part of the order is something simple and is allowed to be done by the nurse aides. My problem is the nurse aides have not been following the order completely and this in my opionion is the fault of the nurses, who should relay the NA what they are to do. Well, when I try to relay this information to all the nurse aides that I work with most say ok I didnt know that and go on. well I found nurse aide X saying to the new nurse aide that I just explained this to that we dont do it that way. I was at the very least belittled, I felt like my authority was just walked over. Am I over exaggerating, or should I watch nurse aide X and ensure that she is doing other things correct and not just the way she does it. Once again this is not downgrading nurse aides.
