CNA Certificate

Published

I passed the CNA exam on Oct 06 of this year and I still have not received my certificate from the state. My question is, will hospitals hire a CNA without the actual certificate? I know most nursing homes will hire me but a friend of mine in the same situation as I am is getting paid .50 less until she gets hers. I have checked on the website and it's still not available. I just started LPN school and would like to work weekends as a CNA. I have been told that all I have to do is show that I passed the exam until I receive my certificate. I really don't want to work as a CNA in a nursing home. Does anyone know why it is so taking so long? Any feedback would be appreciated.

First, how long have you been waiting since your state exam & when did you pass it? It took me about awwww 4-10 months b4 I got mine. I took my CNA course at the Red Cross. By tHe way, congrats on you passing the exam, it took me on my 3rd try for the state exam and I passed it on th 3rd try. If I failed that one, I woulkd have to take the course all over again.

Unfortunately hospitals will NOT hire you without your license... i was in the same situation you are in and i had to wait quite a few months before i got mine. you might want to call http://www.experioronline.com/ they will be able to help you - the link provided will give you all the info.

Thank you for your response. I finally received my certificate. I have not attempted to get a CNA job yet because LPN school requires a lot of dedication. I plan on looking for a position the last 5 months of school so I can get my foot in the door of a hospital. If finances get rough before then, I will be sure to apply.
