CMC Cardiac Medicine Subspecialty Certification

Published

Hey all -- So I registered for the CMC subspecialty cert through the AACN. I recently passed my CCRN :w00t: and scored 100% on the cardio portion of the test. I was wondering if anyone out there has recently taken the exam and can offer any advice?? I know they just launched a new version of the test on 6/20.

Thanks!

I just passed within the last week and studied my you know what off on my own independantly and it was the hardest test I have ever taken. I had no one give me questions or tell me what is on the test. I studied from scratch over the past couple of months without anyone leading me in specific directions.

SICU, good luck! Let us know how you do! I have no doubt you will ace it!Nyrn, get over it. Seriously? Why complain about something that's in the past. You passed, and that's all that matters! That's a great accomplishment regardless of how you had to study or how much help you received. Be happy it's over with and be happy for other people that pass it!

I PASSED!! I did notice on my score report that they DID increase the cut score from 51 to 52. And the exam was DIFFICULT. Moreso in my opinion than CCRN just because it's SO focused and in depth. Best of luck!

Congrat, SICU! :yelclap: I have no doubt it was dfficult! I'm hoping to have the same results as you! Congrats again!

A suggestion that I will give you is that, knowing you dont routinely work in the ICU, you'll really need to brush up on your hemodynamic values and how to interpret them (CVP, RAP, PAS, PAD, PAOP, SVR, CO, CI, ScvO2, etc.)

hopefully everyone taking it will pass. I found the cardiovascular nursing practice to be theonly book I needed by jacobsen and they have a cd rom with practice questions Cardiovascular Nursing Education Associates (CNEA) - Cardiac Nursing Review Courses

Congratulations on passing your CMC exam!! Good for you!! I know that it was a very difficult exam as I have taken it two weeks ago. Like you, I have studied tremendously, endlessly, diligently, all by myself, "from scratch," and received no help or tips from anyone. I didn't even know of this site until after I took the exam. I didn't have anyone or anything to turn to or to guide me either nor did I care because I enjoyed the process of doing my own research, trial & error, and finding what WORKED FOR ME. I believe in sharing whatever knowledge I possess and acquire with others in order to help them along their journey and if it helps them pass the exam, more power to them!! I love to hear about the success of others and to see other people happy in accomplishing their goals!!

WOOT WOOT!!! :w00t: You go SICU_Murse!!! Congratulations to you on such a major accomplishment!!! :yelclap: Isn't it a relief for it to finally be over? I hope you celebrated this in some way or will be celebrating soon. By the way, you are quite welcome!! I am happy that you found the information useful and it feels good to know that it made a difference. To NCcardiacNurse, you will soon be celebrating your success. Don't give up, just keep on going!! You can and WILL do it!! Can't wait to hear the good news!! ;)

Thanks Ms. B! And yes! I did my celebrating last night!
