CMAs and Nursing Tests

Published

Hello all,

I'm currently a medical assisting student and had a girl stop me in the mall and tell me that after graduation a CMA can actually sit for a nursing exam in Michigan.

She said that she had to write an appeal (?) to Lansing where they sent her a prep packet (I don't remember if it was for a specific test or not, I believe she might have said something about LPN). Does this ring a bell to anyone? I can't remember everything she exactly said (she was a fast talker and it was a quick encounter). Is anyone aware of this procedure or know where I could turn to to find information on it? I'm curious about looking into it.

Thank you very much in advance.

I have heard of people getting halfway through their RN program and sitting for an LPN license, but not someone who's only been to CNA school doing so.
