clinical

Hi,

I am in a group for my clinical. The other students in the group are not participating and don't know anything about the patient we are assigned, then when we have to do a project, they ask me for information. I am not sure how to handle this. I feel like I am doing their work. Should I keep quiet since there is an evaluation or should I tell my instructor? I am so unhappy in my clinical because of this.

The majority of my clinical groups never knew what was going on. As well as the majority of my group projects, I did most of the work. What I will tell you is, those people never made it through the program. Your clinical instructors will pick up on it. I say be a team player, and share your information. In the end, you'll see how it plays out.

Well, I see that I am a team player, just don't want to hold someone else's hand when we are 4 weeks from graduating. If they can't do their nursing duties by now, then I'm not sure what to do.

I didn't know you were that close to graduating! Sheesh, I see why you're in a pickle. I was in the same predicament in my clinical group on my last rotation with nursing students who couldn't even do a finger stick. I would do my assignment and not really worry about anyone else's. I would also keep quiet. When I thought my instructor had no clue what was going on, she really knew everything. Do what you think is best!

Yeah and I'm so unhappy with my clinical instructor, she is so hard on me, as if I can diagnose heart failure or something.

Another comment, I fear looking at my email for dread of seeing an email from her.

I haven't been in that situation yet, my clinical group (minus one) are very helpful, always answering my questions, and assisting if I ask, or vice versa. As for group projects, I have lucked out and have had really good groups for projects. Although I did witness a bad group dynamic (happens to be the "minus one" person from my clinical rotation), and their presentation was a train wreck because of it
