Does anyone use clinical pathways?? We are creating clinical pathways for the following areas: Antepartum, Intrapartum, Vag delivery, Csection, Newborn and GYN surgical.....with possible Bili baby and Fetal Loss in the future.
So, what I'm wondering, is if anyone out there uses them, do you have any examples I could use as a guideline .... or any good resources???
I'm kind of starting from scratch on these.
I would appreciate any help!!
Thankyou!!!

They seem to work well and Joint Commission seems so approve of them also. I am off today but I will email you some of ours when I get back to work. Let me know you email and I will try to remember to do this yet this week. Our entire hospital has pathways and they are on the computer so you just type in the diagnosis and the pathway prints with the patients information on it. Then we fill in the areas that pertain to that particular patient. There is also a narrative area for nurses notes. Let me know you email or fax and I will get them to you. thanks

We use pathways too. We use intrapartum pathways in L&D, vag delivery or csection delivery pathways in PP, and newborn or preemie pathways in NSY. For fetal loss, PIH, GD, etc, we follow the care plan.
I can give you some examples, but I'll have to nab copies from work.
I would love to see your examples!!
my email is [email protected]
I've been going crazy trying to come up with these from scratch.
It will be a BIG help to see what someone else is using.
I appreciate it so much!!
Thankyou
and I look forward to your emails!

we use algorithms. not sure if these would be helpful in your case or not. they sure do streamline things for us, and keep us all on the same page.
we have pathways for vag delivery, c/s, pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, hyperemesis, generic OB (if pt. doesn't fit any where else) previa, normal newborn, sick newborn, hyperbilirubinemia. Are there any of these you are most interested in?? Each pathway is anywhere from 3-8 pages long for each day in the hospital.....so will be difficutl to send all of them to you but I can if you want. Sharon
Thankyou to those of you who sent me your pathways, it has helped a lot, I really appreciate it.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I had a bit of a time opening some of the files, but they were worth it when I got the info.
It's nice knowing there are people out there in computer world willing to help out with this kind of thing. I always think that somebody in this world has got to have a good system of doing the things we are having trouble with.
Thanks!!
