Does your facility have clinical ladders or any other clinical advancement program for bedside hospital nurses? Would you mind sharing with me about your program?
We are in the process of re-vamping our clinical ladder program and I wanted to see what's out there that works well and is satisfying to staff.
Thanks

Clinical Ladder levels 1-5
1-6m-1yr
2-1-2yr
3-3yrs
4-4yrs
5-5+yrs
levels 2-4 require a "reflections on critical thinking" paper
level 5 requires a clinical narrative
There are requirements for CLU/CEUs that increase for each level. PDAs are also required for each level -professional development activities-volunteering in the community, poster presentations, membership in a national organization, unit-based committees-there is a LONG list.

we have just 2 levels we call them staff nurse ll and staff nurse lll, There are 12 or 13 different things and you have to do 5 of them for staff nurse ll, such as community service, chair person on committees, continuing education, certifications, conducting inservices, and couple of others I can't think of, For staff nurse lll, you have to be staff nurse ll and do some additional things, such as publish a paper, an advanced degree. IT has to renewed and submitted yearly.
Thanks for your help. Would anyone be able to send me more specifics on what's required to differentiate the upper levels. I want to be sure that our program ends up being "reasonable" - don't want to overwhelm with requirements that would turn someone off.
