clinical giudance

I have two things.... how do I make a clinical experience better for my 2nd quarter ADN students at a nursing home? They can only do the skills they are checked off on. They sit for most of the time studying because all the residents are sleeping... what can i do ? :banghead:

The other thing I need help coming up with Practicum goals and objectives for my student teaching practicum that last all year long. I have trouble because I want to teach and that is my ultimate goal... how can that be a very specific goal... :banghead:

    Case studies are a good way to increase critical thinking skills.

    How about having them meet with the PT, OT, and Social Services departments to get an idea of what they do with the residents? How about having the dietician come in and discuss the dietary needs of the residents?
