CLEP Courses & Distance Learning

Hello,

I am trying to figure this one out and was hoping someone can explain this to me. I am looking to attend ISU LPN to BSN program and have a few questions on testing out of my remaining courses. I have a BA in sociology, so most of my general ed courses are done. Have some of you taken this route in order to finish up your remaining pre-req courses?

Instead of going through College Network, can you buy the study guides for (my remaining courses) Micro, A&P, Psychology, and Chemistry from Barnes & Noble and use them to CLEP out for those classes? Can all of these courses be "CLEP"ed or tested out?

Thanks for your help

You can use whatever your lil ol' heart desires to CLEP out of them. All CLEP/Excelsior/Dantes cares about is that you can pass their test. All ISU cares about it that CLEP/Excelsior/Dantes says you passed. No one really cares what TCN thinks about it. :)

Hi chaxanmom,

Thank you for the response. I had read on a previous post re: ISU that you were accepted for the Spring 2008 LPN - BSN program? I applied to the school and was accepted. In Feb. I sent my application to the nursing dept. for the LPN - BSN program Spring 2008 and I havn't heard back. Do you remember how long it took to find out your acceptance into the nursing program from the time you sent your application in and the time you were accepted? Also, how did they notify you that you were accepted into the nursing program (via mail)?

Thanks for your help

The deadline for Spring 08 was November 1. The semester started in January and is over in a couple of weeks so if you sent your application in February you were way late. Not sure I'm following what you're saying?

I was notified by email and then by regular mail too.

Sorry, I sent my application in for the 2009 Spring term. How long did it take from the time you sent in your application to the nursing dept until the time you were notified of your acceptance? Sorry for the confusion, I was off by a year. LOL!

They let everyone know at the same time because after the admission deadline (Nov 1st was the deadline for Spring 08 so I'd imagine it will be roughly that for you too) then they have a meeting with all the applications and decide who to take. Then it takes a week or two for them to notify everyone.
