Clemson ABSN Fall 2021

Updated:   Published

Hello,

I applied to Clemson University's Accelerated BSN program for fall 2021 and wanted to start a forum for others who have as well!

Best of luck to all who are applying!

Congrats on getting in! ----------------------- had recommended Portage Learning for a few prerequisites but the ones I needed were not available there. Having done my undergrad in California, and only being an SC resident for <6 months at time of acceptance, I opted for SNHU online. Classes were roughly 1k each and I took 2 through them (one of which I ended up not needing and only notified the last week of the class).
I chose to quite working at the start of the semester to get a feel for the program. Several of my classmates had jobs this last semester (our “first” semester), and everyone did fine and kept up, but not without lots of effort. I had done my first undergrad as a full time commuter student also managing a restaurant and am considering working PRN in the hospital as a student nurse tech. Where there is a will, there is a way!

Thank you so much! This is super helpful. ?

Hi Hannah!

I've been going back and forth about whether I should start the program this fall, or try to start next year. I'm currently finishing my Master's degree and haven't had as much time as I wanted to work on prerequisites. I was planning on working on them full-time over the Summer, but I need to get through 8 and don't know if it's possible. I'm taking them all through portage. Do you know if it's unrealistic to get them done by August? Did anyone that you know of have to take that many prerecs?

Thanks!

I talked with my friend in the program who had a similar experience. She already had her Masters in education and was taking prerequisites for this program and the one in Anderson I believe. She had to take around 6 classes between the 2 programs. She told me it would be doable with Portage, especially since it is self-paced. If it was me making this decision , I would be trying to knock it out rather than waiting around another year and a half.

Is it just that some of your classes you thought would count towards a prerequisite wasn’t in TCEL? When my transcripts were run initially it also showered I was in need of several classes (like 6 I believe). -------------------- walked me through the process of getting my classes approved by the department heads. The computer class requirement was completely waved using one of my other classes. In the end it was only Literature I had to take as I had taken something else entirely to satisfy the requirement for me first undergrad. If you question that some of your credits should have transferred for the requirement, definitely ask ------------------------ how to get in touch with the department heads about it.

Thank you for this! I would definitely like to get started this year, I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed by all the classes. I've talked to ------------------------ about getting credits transferred and have been able to transfer a couple, but I still have these left: A+P I, A+P II, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, Statistics, Psychology, and Research Methods. My background is in Architecture, so I had very few science classes in undergrad. Portage says it takes an average of 7 weeks for each class, so it's nice to hear that your friend was able to get through so many over the Summer.
