no classes for summer

Published

Hey everyone- I am currrenty in my nursing program part-time and my cc isn't offering summer classes. I was wondering if any of you had any advice on what to keep fresh on over the summer. I just finishes pharm and nursing fundamentals. I will be doing nursing skills in the fall with a day at a nursing home each week. I am a bit apprehensive and was wondering if this is normal and if any of you have felt this way. I work in the lab and have always wanted to be a nurse in fact I was in the lpn program but had my baby and it was too much. I'm 39 and finally going back to school to do what I've always wanted to do, but I'm nervous about it. Thanks for your input.

Hi TECH,

Congrats on going back to school! From what I read on here, I would just take the summer off and relax. Maybe read a good book that isn't a nursing book!! I have taken classes all year, including summers, since I started in the fall of 05, and I was told to take this summer off ( I was registered for my usual 4 classes!!) and relax, because it would get very busy and stressful once NS started. I decided that was excellant advice and took it. I have read some really good mystery books and now look forward to starting school next month!!!

I would suggest doing the same!!

Enjoy your time off :).

If you want to spend time on schoolwork, I'd recommend getting a NCLEX study book and do some questions each day. You won't have learned all the material covered in there, but it will give you a good idea of what's coming up and a review of what you do know. It will also hone your critical thinking skills.

But, like Blessed, I prefer mysteries ;).
