Hi all!
I am doing a presentation on the joint commission and want an interactive activity that I can do with the class (maybe something fun) to teach about what the commission does. Any ideas would be great.
Thank-you!

Why not set up a room of horrors? I have done this several times around Halloween, but it certainly is not holiday specific. Use a manikin in a bed and set up all sorts of "mistakes", like IV fluids going to feeding tube, or O2 mask hooked to "air" not O2, or NPO sign on door but tray is in room---Gather your supplies, set up the room, then give each student a lined paper that is numbered. The one who finds the most errors wins a prize. The only rule is you cannot talk while in the room. This is fun and memorable. Once the clues are given out people who missed them will return to the room to look again (ony give them 2-3 minutes in the room the first time). BTW-tootsie rolls in a bedpan are effective.
Thank you!

This is a good idea. I will try this with lab time. Thanks.
