Claiming Miles at end of year??

Specialties Home Health

Published

This is my first time to post on this site so bear with me. This past year was my first year to be in home health and now that tax season is right around the corner my husband and I were wondering how much reimbursement per mile can you claim? If I was reading the IRS website right it looks like you can claim .45 a mile. What if you are paid a trip fee or a vehicle allowance can you still claim your mileage legally? Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way if it matters I live north of Dallas.

Thanks in advance

:Santa1: The best advice I can give is to get a good accountant. I always did my own taxes for years until I started home health. My guy is great. I pay him $300 but he "finds" me an extra 2-3000 that I am entitled to. I think there are special federal forms for vehicle allowance and such, and definitely mileage reimbursement.
