City College-Miami Campus

U.S.A. Florida

Hi!

Has anyone done the RN programs at City College? I spoke to a representative today and it just seemed so easy to get into, it almost felt weird. All this time I thought I'd never find an RN program that will take me so fast and I did!

Anyway, I haven't heard much about them, the rep told me the nursing program is new, just started last year. I am curious to see if any current students are in the forum and can offer some insight on this school. Most importantly how are clinicals? Do you feel the clinical experience they offer is adequate?

Also I completely forgot to ask him (but will when I see him again) are their credits non-transferable? My plans are to eventually do RN to BSN at FIU and if their credits won't transfer then I will have to re take all the core classes and pay for them again, which of course will not be worth it! If this is the case I will go to MDC do the pre reqs there (which I can later use at FIU) and go back to City.

Thanks!

Hey,

I was just wondering if you ever found out a good response for this?

I went last week to talk to someone and they told me i need to take the tabe first which honestly looks really easy. And i was wondering if you ever got in? Or looked more into it. I am going this week on Wed Nov 16 to take the tabe and then see the next steps to see.

Oh and yes there credits are transferable

hi miami88,

did u take the test? what is the tabe test like?..how long is the program? is it accredited school?..thank you for your help!

My experience of the nursing program was not the best. Thisis a very expensive program, but it offers very little structure andorganization. As a student, I would never be informed of anything until thelast possible minute. Some professors do not offer consistency or transparencywith the syllabus, and decisions are made aimlessly as they see fit. As astudent, it was very stressful to deal with this unpredictability in additionto the expect stresses of nursing school. I think its important for people toknow about this before signing up for the program.

Miami's City College RN program is a joke. They are unorganized. The Dean of the school Dr. Abraham is running the program, major is Psychology. The former chair of the program, resigned, as well as the most of the program instructors. They are only after taking out a vast amount of money for student loans. They are not even accredited. They say they are but its unclear. The program is a huge scam. The instructors that were there used to just pass students along. Then when it was time to take the state exam they all failed, and the school washes their hands with them, as it is not the schools fault that they failed. Dr. Abraham will state that perhaps 3 out of the 40 graduating students passed the exam. The fact is that that is the reason why the program has not been accredited. In order for them to be fully accredited, they need more then 3 successful students to be board certified. Further the previous students of the program, fyi since the program has not yet been accredited, the IRS( Dept. Of EDU) can take the student loans and transfer them back to the school, as they did not meet up to the requirements of financial aid standards. Good luck to you all. I am currently attending a wonderful school that is accredited.

@sandraalexis I notice you wrote that you are attending a wonderful school that is accredited ethic school is that cause I been Tryin to get into a nursing for a while now I just need help .. The program in Fort Lauderdale is the same way. Via a friend of mine who attended the program and graduated from City College. She says the same thing @sandraalexiz said. I just enrolled into Keiser University Fort Lauderdale. I heard the Miami campus is not that great. Good luck on your school of choice.

Thank you ! What is the entrance test to get into keiser and how is the program so far? I heard it's a really expensive school that's why I haven't look at it
