has anyone ever attended city college in fort lauderdale. if so,

1. is this school accredited?

2. are the students able to pass the nclex upon graduation?

i have been trying to research this information online but can't find it. a coworker spoke to a recruiter and she was told that the school was accredited and that their pass rate for the nclex is 95%. hearing both of these things was good news, but i would like to hear from students and graduates.

thanks

hi,

i went to an information session today:

1. the program is not accredited through nlnac or ccne. it is however approved by the florida board of nursing. city college is accredited by the accrediting council for independent colleges and schools.

2. class size is extremely small 16/class

3. 15 of 16 passed the most recent nclex

4. the program has been around for 5 years.

i'm not convinced. :nono:if you think you'll want to go beyond an adn, you may have some trouble transfering credits. they told me that they are in the process of obtaining accreditation by nln...stay tuned.

Hello All..

I too am wondering about City College of Fort Lauderdale's Nursing program. I have recently contacted them by phone and signed up to attend an information session (they have them weekly every Tuesday & Thursday). For the most part I see that the school it self is accredited by ACICS Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools www.acics.org . However the nursing program is approved by the state of florida and the pass rates are listed on the website: Florida Department of Health .I also did a little "googling" and saw that although they are a private institution, they are not for profit, which is good. Program costs are not as bad as other private schools..Florida National College is quite is expensive over $500 per credit hour. One thing they both have in common is that they do not accept any grades lower than "B" for pre-requisite science courses.

My question is, what is the length of the program? What are the hours - do they have evening as well as day time courses? Does the program and professors adequately prepare you for the NCLEX exam? What type of clinical sites do they have? If there are any students that have attended the nursing program at City College (Fort Lauderdale) and can offer some insight on the program please advise... Im really trying to find a nursing program that can accomodate me, at a cheaper rate than FNC (Florida National College). Although Ive heard its frowned upon to work while in the nursing program I have no choice since I have a ton of responsibility.... Thank you in advance to anyone that can help.
