Old Nursing Students From Miami Dade College Please Help!!!!!
Hello VICTO3841, I am not an old student, I am waiting to receive my letter for the transitional (bridge) nursing program @ MDC. I went through a nursing skills lab with a few people who knew that they had already been accepted. They received letters similar to yours but I am unsure if that was issued to them before or after they knew they were accepted. I never thought to ask because I didn't think that MDC would waste the time and resources sending out letters to people that would not be in the program. I did manage to find out from them that the information session was for a whole day from 8am to 4:30pm. If your letter is similiar to that then maybe you got in and someone sent out these letters before sending out the acceptance letters!!!! If it is different, maybe it's just a general info sessions for all the people looking to go to MDC for the nursing program. Does it specify who may or may not attend???? Also, I am not sure if you are taking the transitional (bridge) route, but if you are and you submitted your application before August 3rd a few changes occurred. Maybe that's what the information session is about???

City College in Fort Lauderdale
has anyone ever attended city college in fort lauderdale. if so, 1. is this school accredited? 2. are the students able to pass the nclex upon graduation? i have been trying to research this information online but can't find it. a coworker spoke to a recruiter and she was told that the school was accredited and that their pass rate for the nclex is 95%. hearing both of these things was good news, but i would like to hear from students and graduates. thanks

Thanks for your reply MacunaRN. I have applied for both the transitional and generic programs. I was told that my GPA would be good enough to get me into the program, but I was unsure if that was true because I heard that people with an extremely high GPA were being rejected. I feel a little better after reading your post. Thanks again.

I Need Help Really Bad!!!!!
I wouldn't give up. I was in the same boat last semester. I took my chemistry class during summer term and had to do 17 weeks worth of work in 6 weeks. I failed my first test as well and was very discouraged. I got focused. No TV. No phone. I just locked myself in a room and tried to understand the material. Then I memorized formulas and rules and worked problems over and over again until they made sense. I also used the disc and website that were provided by my Chemistry book and went to see a tutor.I found that some chapters are easier than others. I was not good with chemistry but managed to make a B in the class.:monkeydance:And that was after failing about 2 or 3 tests. I would not drop the class. See a tutor and talk to the instructor after class for clarification on things you don't understand. You'll need them once you get to molar mass questions. Also the chemistry cliff notes book has lots of useful information. I wasted my time buying other chemistry "made easy" books, but the cliff notes book was closer to what was being covered in my chemistry book.

I applied for the nursing program @ MDC for the Spring '08 term. I am looking for some information. I know that GPA plays a huge role in whether or not applicants get picked but are there other things that they look at? What is the lowest GPA that they have accepted? How many applicants do they accept each semester?? I have been asking these questions to advisors and some of the people that I know but they had no real answers for me. I was wondering if any current nursing students or pre-select students, who have been through this process before, can help me out with this. I :welcome: any information. Thanks, Tamara
