I'm a new grad and looking to find out about the hospitals in Cincinnati. Any details about the new grad program at Cincinnati Childrens (re: pay, schedule, training, etc.)? Also, any info regarding any other facilities in the greater Cincy area would be great. I want to work in a hospital setting, would rather not work med-surg, but understand that I may have to to gain experience.
Thanks!

they have a lot of info on their website and besides you can always call and talk to HR / recruiter. As far as pay they do range in the low 20's but the benefits are awesome. They have many clinical path ways to get training in and it is extensive 36 weeks + 1 year for resource.
Hope that helps

Started as a new grad at Cincy Children's almost 2 years ago, and it was an awesome orientation program. I felt supported through the entire process, the pay right on target for the city average, the benefits are amazing, and overall I've got lots of positive things to say! PM/Email me if you want any specific details.

I'm hearing that unless you are already employed there in some other position that it is extremely hard to get on as a new grad right now because they have more applicants than positions. They also did away with their loan repayment bonuses too?!?!?

They did away with their bonuses? As of when? I know of someone that started in December and they got a bonus for signing on for 2 years...if we do land a position there we won't be able to enjoy the money because we'll have all of these loans to pay back! Yikes!!!

I'm an employee of Cincinnati Children's and yes, it is difficult to get started at the facility unless you know someone or are employed in another position before completing school. ( I'm still in school myself)
However, with the new Libery Township location opening in August of this year, and several employees opting to transfer to that facility for a number of reasons (ie. closer to home, promotions etc.), it may be easier in the near future to get a new grad position at the main campus in clifton. Just a thought.....
Not sure when it happened. A couple of classmates of mine work there as PCAs and just found out about it in the last two weeks. I did a clinical rotation there in Nov and I spoke with a new grad who had just received hers. MANY folks are heated about it!
I had no problem getting in as a new grad although that was 2 years ago, and didn't think there was in issue as far as RNs getting positions because there is a need, especially since some areas (PICU, etc) have such a high turnover rate. My understanding was that it is hard to get a job there if you don't know anyone or have connections if you're applying for any position besides nursing. But it sounds like things have changed
