U.S.A. Ohio

I'm thinking of working at B NOrth, but would like to know from a nurse who has worked there what the scoop is. I would like to work on a med/surg unit but I'm curious as to what their ratios are. Also I'd like to know what the hospital is like. Any responses would be appreciated!!! :)

hi! i am a nursing student in cincinnati ohio....i have never worked at BNOrth but one of my classmates does and we were talking about it last week at lunch....here are the questions i asked her and her answers

1. what is the starting pay at BNorth?

A) they start their nurses at a lower rate than most at 18/hr...(yikes)

2.what is the shift diff.

A) it is 1.50/hr for evening and night shift

3. do you like it there?

A) its ok...they pay isnt that great

sorry i couldnt help you more, i was just tryin to get the scoop of all the area hospitals....i have heard that St.Elizabeth is the best hospital in the cincinnati area..well its actually in NKY but 5 mins from downton cincy

the pay for starting rns is 26.50, the retention rate there is supposedly really good and ive never heard anyone say they dont l ike it\

the benefits are supposed to be wonderful

they have the option there that you can just work 24 hours on the weekend and they will pay you for 36, anything you pick up past that is premium plus....

21 days sick days/vaca days to start

B North is pretty much a carbon copy of every other Cincy tertiary hospital. The pay scale is pretty much identical (I've worked/interviewed at most). The real plus about BN is the neighborhood, which is much, much safer than the downtown hospitals. Most of the Cincy hospitals pay exactly the same (they share information with each other regularly).

I agree that St. E's really is the exception (and possibly University because they're a union shop). If you go the St. E's route, stick with St. E's SOUTH. Trust me.:)
