Anyone attending this school?
You can pretty much wear what you like on lecture days except for pj pants, super low cut jeans, short shorts and tops with inappropriate sayings or cleavage. For pre-clinical days, you need business attire as well as your lab coat. The school stresses professionalism at all times, which will only help prepare us for when we become RNs.
The minimum NLN score is in the 45th percentile. You should definately aim for 90% and above though since they really only want the top scorers on the entrance exam. Have you already begun the process? It's my understanding that the Fall 2011 class is full and the deadline for the Fall 2012 class is sometime close to the end of June.
I wish you all the best with your application process.
Thank you. Wow I wasn't aware that the application deadline for the 2012 program was that early! I assumed it may have been in early 2012! I hadn't applied yet because I know one of the requirements is to have college chemistry as well as algebra completed and I had planned on taking them at my local cc this fall since I had not taken those courses in high school. I would really love to get into this program next year but now I'm a bit nervous...any suggestions? Do they look at college gpa as well?

I want to add a few more things about CHSON:
1. It's a HUGE load of work, but it's totally worth it. You'll feel amazed at how much you've learned and accomplished at the end of the semester.
2. I'm not originally from Jersey City so I'd never heard of it before I moved here and started looking into schools, but apparently it has an excellent repuation in the North Jersey area.
3. It has a somewhat conservative atmosphere, they have strict rules on what you can wear (especially at clinical), that you're not allowed to use foul language in the school areas, you must look/act professional at all times. this is for our own good obviously but just a heads-up.
4. Student body and faculty are very culturally diverse, which is GREAT. you get to know people from places and cultures that you'd probably never have known otherwise, and you learn a lot (goes hand in hand with emphasis on culturally competent nursing practice, IMO)
5. I'll reiterate that it's the best bargain around at $23K for the total package of CHSON classes and Hudson classes.
