Choosing a Nursing School

Hello!

I am currently looking at Ambria college of nursing here in Hoffman Estates Illinois. Im finding it confusing on what to look for when it comes to it being accredited?! or approved?! I would hate to get my LPN and then have a hard time finding a job because of the school I went to.

On the website it states "Ambria is accredited by North Central Association Commission Accreditation on School Improvement Post Secondary (NCACASI)." Is that what I should be looking for?

It also says:

Ambria College of Nursing is approved by the following state agencies:

Specializes in Public Health.

Look for your state board of nursing and look at their list of approving nursing programs

I have been denied acceptance into College of Dupage because of Ambria's "accreditation". I think its funny how all the emphasis is put on the "approval" part such as: IDFPR and such. I wouldnt be surprised if they put: "Approved by the City of Hoffmann Estates" next will be "were approved by ComEd to get electric for our student" "Nicor approved". Bottom line is that they are NOT NLN approved like the vast majority of schools. I think this is pretty funny too: "Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools". That is an accreditation for vocational or secondary schools. Im sure I could get some accreditation by some shabby office in a random state. There is a reason why everyone wants NLN graduates. Thanks for getting rid of the bike rack......
