CHOC Feb 2014 RN Residency

Published

Hello fellow New Grad!

Just starting a thread to communicate with others that have applied to CHOC's RN Residency starting Feb 2014! Please post stats i.e. degree, experience, unit you applied for!! Good luck everyone!! I can't wait to hear back!!

I have my ADN, but I am currently enrolled in an RN-BSN program. I was licensed in June! I applied NICU!!!

Oh ok yeah not having certs ahead of time is their way of weeding people out nowadays. That's a bummer. I have both ACLS & PALS.

Good job on being in the ADN-BSN program! Smart move.

Thank you! I have the same certifications. To all, please keep this forum updated with any application status changes, e-mails, and/or phone calls. It would be greatly appreciated :)

Greatly appreciated but would also make most of us more anxious. Sigh lol. CHLA has already called some people for a pre-screening and I haven't been called :( hopefully within the next week!

Specializes in Pediatric Hem/Onc.

I applied to onc as well, even though I heard they aren't hiring many to the unit this go-round. I precepted in hem/onc (not at CHOC) though so and that's where I really want to be, so I had to do it! Got my BSN in August, passed NCLEX in September. Fingers crossed everyone!!

A friend of mine got a call today from CHOC. They were requesting letters of rec and told her that her app had been forwarded to the nurse manager. She applied NICU.

Hello fellow new grads

I applied for PICU about 3 weeks ago and recieved a phone call yesterday (10-29/2013) to set up a time/date for an interview. I graduated with my BSN in June 2013. I have the following certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, EKG, NIH stroke scale.

Passed NCLEX in August. Interview is in 2 weeks. A confirmation email followed my conversation requesting I bring the follwoing items with me on the day of my interview: letters of recomendation, transcripts (official or unofficial), accomplishments while in nursing school/projects I was involved in, and any clinical associate background or preceptorship I was involved in.

This is my dream job! I am so excited and nervous! Hope my information helps.

Wishing each and every one of you the best of luck!

Just a quick question... Which RN-BSN program are you enrolled in?

Thank you!

Wow, I was hoping it would be at least four...

I have a friend who already got a rejection letter in regards to the NICU dept. The waiting game awaits lol
