Chla & Choc

Published

Hi! Just wondering if anyone can give me some insight into Childrens Hospital LA and/or Childrens Hospital OC. I graduate in May and plan on moving to CA from Texas. Also what is the starting pay scale for a GN in CA? Thanks I appreciate any help.

Hi there, I do not work in either place, but my nursing school classmates did clinicals at both places, and LOVEd CHOC.

Pay will vary from hospital to hospital. I think CHOC is lower than other hospitals, about $22.00/hr I think.

Word of advice, start the licensure process sooner than later for CA. You have to apply for an "interim permit" in CA to work. Just FYI.

Best of luck!

I do not recommend the interim permit at all, and many hospitals are no longer hiring with it. It is much better to get the licensing process out of the way before you even consider moving to CA. That way you can focus on all of the material that you are going to need to learn to work with the kids.

Hi Suzanne4, so do you know anything about CHLA or CHOC? Really would like to get come opinions on these two hospitals b/c I know when you go interview its all sugar and spice.

Hey nsgstudentJen, so how is living in CA? I am pretty nervous about moving over there but I want extensive training that I cant get here where I live. Have you graduated or are you still in school? Just wondering what is the best of the best place to work in LA or OC?

I know some travellers that went to CHOC and loved it. I have only worked at Children's of Central Calfiornia and loved it there, I would recommend that facility in a second to anyone.

I do not have any first hand information about either of those two.
