Chicagoans taking the TEAS in Jan?

Published

Hey folks,

I'm attending Truman college and I'm taking the TEAS on Jan 27 at Daley. I'm looking for potential study partners.

I live in the Albany Park area of Chicago. feel free to send me a message if you might be interested.

Thanks!

Myk

Hi. I already took mine at Wright and got accepted for the spring program and I start this JAN 13th. I'm super excited. Sorry cannot help with your study buddy need but I'm wishing you good luck. I know it's competitive.

Have you done any kind of review/studying?

I got a used copy of the ATI book from amazon, so I've been looking through that. I'm mostly concerned about the subjects I haven't actually had as classes like Anatomy and Physiology (taking that in Jan). Congrats btw!

I also used an ATI guide, and that's all you'll need. I did come across a couple of questions regarding the urinary system but there weren't many questions from A&P.

The TEAS has questions from material from like 5th grade also, so I didn't find it hard at all. Math, reading, and English were a piece if cake. Depending on your academic history I'd say focus on science :)

thanks for the info. I have heard varying reports on the TEAS so I do want to be prepared!

Hey, I go to Truman as well!!!! :)

I took my TEAS test on Jan 15th and passed. My problem was reading. I ran out of time. You will get 48 questions instead of 42 and articles will be longer than on practice test, so time yourself. I didn't answer last 5 or 6 questions and that really hurt my score but I still managed to pass. Science was unexpectedly easy for me even though I didn't take micro 233 and A&P 227. You will get aprox 14 questions from A&P but they will be general questions. I recommend you to read first couple of pages from chapters 18,21,22,23 in your A&P book if you have one. That is what I did and I scored 100% on "Life Science" section of the test. If you don't have A&P book, make sure you know everything from ATI book in detail.

Also a really good book that will help you a lot is Mc Graw Hill. It consists of 5 tests that are very close to the actual test if not slightly harder. If you manage to pass those tests I am sure you will do good on the Teas test. If you are looking for a book with actual lectures, I suggest National League for Nursing "Review Guide for RN Pre-entrance Exam." Tbh, I bought this book but I never used it cause I already had my A&P book and I studied from it instead.

Good luck and I hope to see you in a nursing class in Fall 2014 :)

You can do it!

Well, strangely enough.. the inclimate weather has closed the schools tomorrow. I hope I can make the test up sometime this week!!!! Thanks for all of the info and encouragement Natasa!

:dead: Oh that sucks. My first date was Jan 6th and that day colleges were closed because of the extreme temperatures so I had to go and book new date and waste another 50 bucks. I am still trying to get my 50 bucks back from ATI but it is not looking good. I've must have called them at least 15 times so far and it is always the same story. "Mr. this and that is not in the office, we are looking into your refund, blah blah...." That's been going since Jan 6th and I still didn't get my refund. I hope you have more success with them if you try to get your money refunded. Other than that. I wish you luck on your next test. Do let us know how it went. :)

Ugg! I didn't pay for another test. I just bugged ATI to give me another date and they did. I'm taking it this Thursday. Sorry that they are giving you the "that is not my job" runaround!!!!

I'm glad to have some more time to solidify so many concepts in my mind. I have let so much of it fade.. lol.. It's good to review things.

I did it! I got a 91.3% I'm pretty happy with that!
