:redbeatheI am going to be taking my first travel assignment this July! I have been reading your suggestions for a year, reading several books, and researching different travel agencies.

I hope to get my first assignment in Chicago. I lived there for several years and would love to go back for a visit. Does anyone know of any agencies that would be good to go with for this particular city?

Thanks for all of your continued input!:redbeathe:redbeathe:mad:

Good luck to you TrinityGrad! I am working with American Mobile, but they are a big company and do not have the best rep. I have been happy with them so far.

Novapro is also good, from what I hear.

Best of luck to you!

Hi Trinity Grad!! :)

I am on my first travel assignment and I chose American Mobile to do it with. As Diarygirl stated, they are a big company and I guess people may have had some issues with them in the past. I chose to go with this company because of a nurse that was assigned to the hospital where I worked staff on L&D. She had wonderful things to say about traveling and about Am Mobile and more importantly about her recruiter. While you are looking around for travel agencies, the theme that will come up most often is "how is your recruiter". When you know that a recruiter really has your best interest at heart, it means a world of difference.

I chose to go with that nurse's recruiter at Am Mobile and I feel so incredibly blessed. She is truly AMAZING! Since this was going to be my first assignment, she spent time trying to really find out what I wanted and looked for in traveling.... was it money, travel, rewarding learning experiences, etc. She spent a lot of time being honest with me about what was out there in terms of the work and agencies. She was up front with me about pay rates and how they worked. She really enjoys her work and enjoys meeting the realistic - notice I said REALISTIC expectations of her travelers. I receive a lot of support and communication. Not only from her but from the Service Acct Mgr and Quality Service specialist. My recruiter and I are truly working as a team in terms of where I want to be placed, both location, volume, acuity, and timing of year so that I can experience the best locations at their best times of year. I really value her input and since she is specialized in Labor & Delivery, she gives me the best insight on which hospitals offer the best experiences - nursing wise - in L&D.

I'm currently in Tampa, FL and looking to go to either Seattle, Wa or NYC on my next assignment. American Mobile may not offer the highest pay when compared to the various agencies, however, at this point in my travel career - I'm a seedling :) - I'd rather have a supportive recruiter who I know has my back and is looking to make sure that not only am I placed in beautiful and safe housing, but that the budget for my assignment is working in my favor wherever and whenever possible. Even now I come across some travelers who are with other agencies making a little more/ or a lot more, and just when I start thinking "maybe I'll try them out", they tell me something that makes me glad to stay right where I am - support is important.

Hope this helps. :) If you would like the name of my recruiter, just send me a private message and I'll be glad to share. :)

Good Luck! Chicago is on my list for next year! :)
