Chemeketa - Fall 2023

Published

Hello! Who else took the Kaplan test this week for Chemeketa's program? I took mine and ended with a 79% . I am feeling a little anxious but slightly hopeful since there was only 80 applicants for 2023. Total points are 328/345.

357. I should not have taken a sleeping pill the night before my Kaplan exam. I was so groggy, and it was harder than I thought it would be!

and no. I've heard nothing since they sent us our scoresheets. It's so frustrating.

You got this!! Best of luck!! I wonder how everyone else did!! Ugh I just want awnsers!!

Yeah, some kind of update or timeline would be nice.

especially since we need a background check, drug test, new CPR certification, copies of immunizations, TB testing. All need to be done by a certain date. I'm not known for my patience 😅

Everyone check their Chemekets email. They just sent out an email

I got in!!!!

How did everyone else do?

Yay!! I got in too! ☺️

I got in as well! Congratulations ladies !!

We did it! I was so worried after my Kaplan score. Doesn't seem like anyone got a great score on that though 😂

Agreed! It was harder than I expected but a good reality of what we'll encounter while in nursing school. I will meet you all soon in person!

Hi ladies I read this whole thread and congrats on getting accepted into the program! I'm finishing up with all of my pre reqs this year and then I plan on applying! I was just wondering if you guys had full points on all aspects of the application (example got an A or B in your classes) and the Kaplan is the only thing affected your points (if anyone is willing to share their grades). Also if anyone could give study tips for the Kaplan I would LOVE and what to expect with topics and stuff like that.

Hi Caydance!
I'd be happy to share my grades breakdown for the 2024 application: BI231, BI232, and BI233: A's, MTH 112: A-, WRI 121: A-, PSY 201: B, PSY 237: A. The two general elective courses were also A's for both.

I spoke with an advisor and when considering applications for when there are multiple classes that qualify for one category, such as the general electives or writing sections, they will consider the class that gives you the most points. I also have my CNA license, which gave me an extra 15 points for the healthcare certification section as well as 5 points for working in a healthcare-related field.

On the Kaplan exam, I earned an 86%, which gave me 40 points out of 50 for that section. They graded it on a sliding scale, so a 90% or above got you the full 50 points, 80-89% received 40 points, so on and so forth. The Kaplan exam was pretty tough, especially the science section, and the review book doesn't accurately prepare you for that at all. Although, for the reading and maths sections, the review basically covers everything you need to know, so I'd recommend for those parts. I also have spoken with nursing students in other programs who also applied to Chemeketa, and they said that it was significantly harder than the HESI or TEAS and that anything above an 80 is actually pretty good for that exam.

But, after all that, my final score was a 367.5 out of 380 and was accepted. Sorry for such a long response, I hope I answered your questions okay 😅 I definitely info dumped but if any more questions plz feel free to ask!

Daisy,

Thank you so much!! This was so helpful and exactly what I was looking for in a response thank you so much for answering my questions! I'm taking my first anatomy and physiology class this fall (BI231) and I'm so nervous because I've heard it's a really tough class and I want to get an A. What is your opinion on the anatomy and physiology sequence classes and was it very hard to get an A for you?
